Background History of St. John's Convent School

Our History

St. John Convent School is a Classical English Medium Catholic School which bases all its activities on Christian Principles. The Sisters of St. John the Baptist is a Religious Congregation founded by St. Alfonso Maria Fusco a Catholic priest from Angari in the Southern part of Italy. The Congregation spread to Africa in 1947 in what is known as St. Joseph Mission, Kalulushi, Zambia. It has since been giving quality service in different apostolate works of the Congregation. The Sisters of St. John the Baptist in the Republic of South Africa, belongs to the Zambian Province. The Congregation of the Sisters of St. John the Baptist has been willed by God, Based fundamentary on the vows of Chastity, Obedience and Poverty. Sisters run the Children’s Home and the School, all situated in the same premises. They provide a home for the vulnerable children who have been abandoned in society to have a better future through education and human promotion. St. John Convent School and Alphonso Children’s Home is located some 5kms at the outskirts of Bronkhorstspruit, in a very comfortable premise in Sizanani – plot 56 – Roderpoorte farm road next to Sizanani Support Trust Village on the road to Verena. Alfonso Children’s Home has a peaceful atmosphere, safe and peaceful environment for such children.
