Establishment of St. John's Convent School

Alfonso Children’s Children Home was the main objective behind the establishment of St. John Convent School, so as to carter for the academic needs for the children brought up in the home. The School started in 2011 after the Sisters bought its ownership from Parklands College. It runs from grade R – 9. It started on a very small scale with 80 learners of whom 18 where orphans from the home. But gradually gaining momentum and numbers due to its unique nature around. It started to offer the much needed education to the underprivileged children in the area, more so to the children being looked after by the Sisters from Alfonso Children’s Home and place of safety. It is the only Catholic institution in the vicinity and environment. The School has increased dramatically in numbers and made enormous progress in terms of environment and academic dispensations respectively. It is the aim of the School to assist learners in developing their whole persons. Learners are therefore expected to take part in all activities of the school which are scheduled for them.
